Shawarma King in Kalamazoo

I have eaten at middle eastern places all over our fair state, but none compare to the shawarma king. My hear belongs to the king tea, fatoosh, and that falafel deleux sandwich. If I'm feeling wild I'd even spring for a modest platter and tour the menu that way. Either way Nidal (the friendly shop owner and chef) will make sure you are taken care of.

Shawarma King will forever hold a place in my heart. The food and the service here are phenomenal. Before moving to Kalamazoo, I hadn't ever had anything like this place. It is now at least a weekly staple. Every time I go, I try something new and different. I was lately just turned onto their baklava and it changed my life. The food is always hot and flavorful. I have sent many people their way and haven't ever heard anything bad. If you're unsure of it, just order it and your life will be changed. Thank you to Shawarma King for all you do and make!

Service was great. My grape leaves were stellar. But my beef swarma seemed, though well cooked, bland- lacking seasoning.

The food is always amazing, and the staff is very nice! Thankful they’re open during this hard time, there may be a lot of uncertainty right now, but one thing is certain, I get to have my FAVORITE takeout food from the Kalamazoo area! Also it was cold out today and I was offered a warm tea that was delicious, to go with my takeout order. My favorite local business to support!

I had the King salad that came with seasoned grilled children, and hummus with chicken and beef shwarma on top. The salad and veggies were fresh and crisp, and the oil based dressing was light and flavorful. The hummus came with a most delicious garlic spread and pita bread for dipping. The shwarma was well marinated and tender, not dry. I am forever ruined and will never buy grocery store hummus again. I should have taken a picture before I devoured it! .

Shawarma King is a great place. The food is always fantastic and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant.

This place is a gem: excellent food and great folks. Everything we had was amazing. Hummus better than Zahar. King tea, classic coffee, baklava: all unbelievably delicious... the kebab was perfect.

Came here for the first time in a long time yesterday. I forgot how amazing it is! The portions are huge and all the food is amazing! The lamb biryani and stuffed lamb are my favorites, and their hummus is to die for.

Great place! Locals seem to like it here. Being from out of town the staff was very nice and the food was good. I would say out of all the places I've been, it wasn't world class food... but good. I'd just like to say the staff was friendly, service was good, and I'm always a fan of supporting local businesses (even if it isn't my home town). Give it a try!

Pretty good shawarma, but what impressed me most is the bang you get for your buck. I got a chicken shawarma, salad, rice, and a drink all for under $12. King tea was not too sweet. Definitely stopping by here again.

The food served at Shawarma King is a traditional taste of excellent middle eastern food. You won't find another sit-down restaurant in Kalamazoo at this high quality per dollar. The service is courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. The only complaint at no fault to the restaurant is that the tap water has a strong city taste, so ask for a lemon with your water or try a tea instead. It's always wonderful to come back to this place.

Consistently one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The menu is large and most items are gluten free. The owner and staff are always friendly and accommodating of my garlic sauce addiction.

Great food and flavor. Highly suggest that you stop by and give this restaurant a try if you have never had this cultural food type. Everything that I had was top notch. Try the Lentil soup and the Falafel.

This place is one of my favorites. They are a healthy, authentic, middle eastern diner. Their food is always fresh and full of flavor. They have some of the best in-house made hummus. Their shaved meat is always delicious as well. Gotta check it out

My sister and I have been coming to Shawarma King for 15 years and it never disappoints! We order the exact same thing every time! Hummus, chicken Shawarma sandwich and a side of fries! Always delicious!

After a little consideration, we ended up here for lunch. Everything, from the Turkish coffee to the fresh lemon tea, was fantastic. This place is unassuming but don’t let that deter you from trying some of the best Mediterranean food in the state. The portions are large so come with an appetite. Enjoy!

Though pale in comparison to places in the Dearborn/Detroit area, this is the best place in the Zoo to get middle eastern food

I was amazed at how good this food tasted!!! Five stars without a doubt. The fried kibbies, grape leaves, falafel, I mean everything was just amazing. Words fall short to describe how good it was. Good value too. I highly recommend.

I wish I could give them ZERO STARS. On Wednesday, December 11, 2019 I was the last order from Shawarma King. I was getting off work and I rushed their to pick my food up. I ate the food at home and it was already a 4/10 it wasn't good compared to real middle eastern food. I got a chicken shawarma meal. The next day December 12th, I woke up with the worst stomach ache. I had diarrhea 3 times in 1 hour. I had a final exam at 2:45pm and barely made it threw. After I walked down the stairs and threw up everything and felt a lot better. The next 3 days I had no appetite and was super weak. Please do not go here. Worst way to end the semester!
